Jackie's Sunday Runs

Please join us for Sunday Runday, 8 AM at Westwood Hills. Meet up to walk, hike, or run! "Create greatness one step at a time!".

Sunday Runday was started two years ago by a group of gym rats who needed more than a gym to create a sense of belonging and self worth.

Jackie Reynolds is a rock star group fitness instructor with a huge following in Napa. She teaches TRX and general fitness at Core Values Health & Fitness in Napa.

"Sunday Runday is for beginning walkers or advanced runners. It is a group training effort with a goal in mind.. Whether it be a walk to the middle, or a hike to the top, or hill repeats while carrying heavy logs. Everyone is on a different path but we start together and create change and grow confidence with every step we take. It is about what you can do!"

The event is free to everyone!

Light Up Your Run!

As the days grow shorter stay visible while out running and walking at dusk. Whether it's reflectivity or LED technology, we can light you up and keep you safe!

Be Your Own Beacon With LED Lights:  Battery-operated LED strobes generate their own light so you don't have to rely on a car's headlights for reflectivity. Check out or Nathan Strobe Light, Light Spur, and running headlamps by Princeton Tec (Proudly made in the USA)

Use Reflective Material:  Retro-reflective means that light bounces straight back to its source with a minimum of scattering. Drivers detect pedestrians wearing retro-reflective at distances up to 6X greater than pedestrians wearing a t-shirt. Check out both styles of reflective vests by Nathan.

New Shoes Are In!

First we start with two out of the ordinary, ultra-high end shoes. The new Mizuno WAVE PROPHECY 3 is possibly the most high-tech running shoe available today. The Prophecy 3 is the ultimate example of Mizuno's Wave technology. Full-length "Infinity Wave" cushioning and support provide high mileage, neutral runners with the ultimate ride. You have to try it on the believe it. For men and women:

For women, we also carry the Prophecy's "little sister", the new Mizuno WAVE CREATION 15. It too features Mizuno's "Infinity Wave" technology, but with traditional foam cushioning in the mid-foot. It's a very dynamic ride, very different from the foam-cushioned heels of most other running shoes:

The New Balance 1400 racing flat is an ultra-light shoe with a lot of very soft cushioning. This is not one of the those tight, uncomfortable racing flats. Some of us here wear it as an every day walking shoe, it's that comfortable. The New Balance WX813 v2 is a lightweight, low-profile cross-trainer designed to maximize comfort while putting more kick in your cardio. The New Balance 813v2 is also perfect for boot camps and other conditioning, making it a superior multitasker that supports you yet keeps your feet feeling great while you work out.

The Saucony GUIDE 7 is the latest iteration of one of the best-selling stability shoes in the running world. This year the Guide 7 gets the higher-end PowerGrid midsole. This is a shoe with a fairly wide, comfortable toe box. The Saucony TRIUMPH 11 is Saucony's high-end neutral cushioned shoe. It offers a very plush ride, yet like all Sauconys it is very light. Support and heel-to-toe transition have been improved from version 10.

The brand new New Balance M860 v4 and W860 v4 just arrived a few days ago. They are the fourth iteration of the enormously popular New Balance 860 series. A comfortable, supportive, stability shoe. The Nike PEGASUS 30 SHIELD is the reflective, water-resistant version of Nike's neutral workhorse shoe. The synthetic mesh upper provides lightweight comfort and support while offering 360 degree reflectivity.

Fun Recipe

Healthy Maple Glazed Pumpkin Muffins

Ingredients for the Muffins:

  • 2 cups whole wheat flour
  • 1 1/2 cups all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon each cloves, cinnamon, and nutmeg
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 cups pumpkin puree
  • 1/2 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup real maple syrup
  • 3 tablespoons milk
  • 3 eggs

Ingredients for the Glaze:

  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 1/4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 tbs. maple syrup
  • 1-2 tablespoons water
  1. Preheat the oven to 350 F. Mix the dry ingredients (flours, baking soda, baking powder, cloves, cinnamon, nutmeg, salt, and sugar). In a separate bowl, mix the wet ingredients (pumpkin, oil, maple syrup, milk, and eggs).
  2. Combine the dry and wet ingredients in a large mixing bowl, stirring until just combined. Fill each muffin tin almost to the top with a scoop of batter - I like to use an old fashioned ice cream scoop with the little thumb press to get a nice rounded top.
  3. Bake for 20 minutes or until tops are puffy and spring back when you press them. Remove from the muffin pan and let cool before glazing.
  4. For the glaze, melt butter in saucepan. Add powdered sugar and vanilla - it will be thick and sticky. Stir in maple syrup. Add water until desired consistency is reached.
