Clo-Cow Half Marathon

Thank You!

Clo-Cow Half Marathon

Thank you to all who supported and participated in the Blue Ribbon 5K this weekend. In addition to being a huge success (over 300 runners the very first year, and over $15,000 raised for prostate cancer awareness!), it was also a great amount of fun. Congratulations to the organizers, we can't wait 'til next year...

The new Inov-8 Terrafly

Inov-8 has been rapidly building their reputation in both the Crossfit world and the distance-running world. Just in are their newest versions of the road/trail hybrid Terrafly:

Terrafly 303 Terrafly 277
Terrafly 303 (men) Terrafly 277 (women)

Designed to stand up to the rigor of both road and off road running, the Terrafly 277 (women) and 303's (men) unique combination of inov-8's fascia band technology and heel unit encourages an increasingly efficient running technique over long distances. Choose this shoe for ultra running and developing your running technique over longer distances.

Having problems with blisters?

Blisters can be the bane of a runner's existence. Here are two products that help greatly in preventing blisters:

  • WrightSockWrightSock: these socks consist two separate layers, sort of a "sock in a sock". The idea is that the two layers rub against each other when your foot moves, as opposed to having a single-layer sock that rubs against your skin, causing the blisters. Both layers are very thin, so the overall sock is no thicker than any other regular single-layer sock.

  • Body Glide: Body Glide is an anti-chafe stick made of all natural ingredients. It is like applying a Teflon coat to your skin, preventing irritation and blisters caused by the rubbing of shoes, socks, or clothes. Body Glide is invisible, non-oily, and it goes on without a mess. Good in hot or cold weather, it won't clog pores, and perspiration escapes. It washes-off with soap and is hypoallergenic.

We also carry a sun-protection version of Body Glide, with an SPF of 25.

And the Facebook winner is...

Angela Yee!   Congratulations on winning our August Facebook free shoe drawing, we hope you get much enjoyment out of them.

We will be drawing our next winner at the end of November. You have until November 30th to like us on Facebook to be automatically entered into the drawing.

We will also be trying out a new fun Facebook contest in early October, so signup now to find out. And as always Facebook is where we announce things first: sales, new products, updates, closeouts, and more. So...

See you there!

Fun Recipe

Melon and Grape Gazpacho
Courtesy of Anne Panchesson!

Here is a recipe for a really refreshing gazpacho. Of course you can always vary the ingredients according to your personal taste:

In a blender or food processor, combine...

  • 1 melon: honeydew, cantaloupe, etc. Peeled, seeded and rough chopped
  • 4 tomatillo’s, washed and quartered
  • 1/2 pound grapes, green or Muscat, washed and destemmed
  • 1/4 cup vinegar, Cider or Champagne
  • 1/2 cucumber peeled
Puree until smooth and strain/push, thru a fine mesh sieve, into a non reactive bowl and discard the seeds and skins in the sieve. In a blender or food processor, combine...
  • 1/4 bunch of cilantro
  • 2-3 cloves of garlic
  • A small jalapeno pepper, seeded... can use less, for less heat
  • Juice of 2 limes and 1 lemon
  • 1/4 cup extra virgin olive oil
Puree until smooth, do not strain, add to the above mixture, season with salt and pepper to taste. Chill for at least 1 hour. Can be made a day ahead. Serve chilled with garnish of ground Marcona Almonds and a dollop of crème fraiche.

Et voila, enjoy!
